British Universities Lifesaving Clubs' Association

Sheffield

Back

The Universities of Sheffield Lifesaving was founded back in 2014 and since then the club has grown to a strong group of lifesavers from both Uni of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam.

We're a very friendly and welcoming club, meaning we cater to a range of abilities. We offer our members as many opportunities as we can: competing at university and external competitions, gaining first aid and lifesaving qualifications, and taking part in charity work and fundraising.

We train twice a week - 1 1.5hr pool session and a 1.5hr dry-side first aid session. Our pool sessions vary from week to week and cover everything from fitness sets and stroke technique, to rescuing casualties and practicing rope throw.

Moving to university can seem daunting, but there's no better way to make friends than by joining a sports club. We're a close-knit bunch and we're always keen to welcome new members! On top of training and competitions, we have regular varied socials - from nights out at the SU to laser tag to getting together for movie nights in our pyjamas. It was our tenth birthday recently which meant a big reunion of lifesaving masters and newbies!

We're one of the smaller clubs at Sheffield but that doesn't stop us achieving our goals - we're three-time bronze medallists at National Student Championships, we were Sport Sheffield's Most Improved Club 2018, and BULSCA Club of the Year for two years in a row in 2018-19! Most recently we came second in the Line Throw at Student Nationals in 2022!

Whether you're an experienced lifesaver or a total beginner, we're keen to welcome you to the club - for more info feel free to drop us an email at [email protected] or message us on our social media accounts:
