The University of Nottingham Lifesaving Club is a relaxed and laid back club that enjoys training, competing and socialising together. We focus on all areas of Lifesaving and cater to all abilities, from complete beginners to experienced lifeguards and competitors. Our aim is to get as many people involved with the world of Sport Lifesaving as possible, and to bring together people from all areas and backgrounds and unite them with a common interest. We have a strong commitment to welfare within our club, and emphasise the importance of unity.
Training is split evenly between RLSS speed events and SERC training, and all led by students and committee members. We also offer the chance for members to complete RLSS survive and save awards, and encourage everyone to join in with BULSCA competitions, as either a competitor, helper or judge. This year, our A-team placed 6th and the B-team 7th in their respective leagues. This year, we were able to send at least one team to every competition, which we are incredibly proud of. As one of the smaller clubs competing as a part of BULSCA, being able to achieve this turnout at competitions is quite amazing.
Club members have discussed some highlights from this part year which include our Baywatch Social, BULSCA student Championships in March, and our team building day. We always look forward to our annual Alton Towers trip and weekly catch ups away from the pool at the SU bar.
Next year we hope to recruit even more members and maintain our turnout rate at competitions, and hopefully continue to improve as a club, both in the pool and out. The friendships that have been formed in our club have proved to be life lasting, and we hope to welcome many more of you next year.
