David was introduced to the RLSS when he became a lifeguard at the age of 16. Two years later he found himself university and looking for training hours, joined the University of Warwick Lifesaving Club, and hasn’t looked back since. During his four years at Warwick, he regularly attended competitions, ramping up his involvement in the club to finish with a year as club secretary captain of their A-team in 2008/09.
After graduating in 2009, he moved to St Andrews to begin a PhD in Astronomy. There he joined the university’s lifesaving club, and has been captaining their A-team as the club increases its presence in the BULSCA community. He has also spent two years on the St Andrews committee, as Training Officer and Competitions Coordinator, the latter of which included organising their first ever university level competition.
This year sees David begin his 8th year of involvement in BULSCA lifesaving, and marks his first year on the BULSCA committee.
