We are Southampton University Lifesaving Club, a close-knit group of Lifesavers who enjoy training and competing in this unique sport.
Our aims as a club are to teach first aid not just for competitions but also as a useful life skill, as well as increasing fitness through swimming sessions. We have one training session a week which focuses on teaching and practicing both dry-side and pool-side first aid using the scenario structure seen in BULSCA competitions. We also have a pool session every week focusing on swim fitness and the techniques used in speeds events.
Our training sessions are:
Tuesdays; 20:00-22:00 – Jubilee Swimming Pool
Thursdays; 18:30-20:00 – Clubs & Socs Room; 20:00-21:00 – Jubilee Swimming Pool
SULSC are involved in the BULSCA university league and student championships as well as more local competitions such as the Wessex branch lifesaving competition which was run for the first time in May 2017. There are also opportunities for our non-competitive members, such as working with the RLSS to run a ‘Save a Baby’s Life’ workshop on campus.
The University of Southampton Lifesaving Club is looking forward to the next academic year and we are ready to welcome new members!”
