What is BULSCA?

BULSCA acts as the governing body for and oversees competitive lifesaving between university clubs. Its primary role is to facilitate and ensure the smooth running of an annual league, comprising around eight individual competitions hosted by member clubs each year. In addition, the BULSCA Student Championships are held over a weekend each year with a focus on speed events.

BULSCA also provides support to clubs, through the Club Development Officer and nationwide events aimed at upskilling members. Member clubs aim to spread knowledge of lifesaving techniques and train their members to complete awards with the aim of applying those skills to competition. Where courses require specialist tuition, BULSCA aims to put them on in such a way that members from across the country can attend.

As an organisation, BULSCA is well-placed to form a link between its members and lifesaving organisations, promoting student interests and accessing support from the Royal Life Saving Society UK, Surf Life Saving GB and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
