Chris has been involved in lifesaving for many years. He has represent Great Britain at Junior Level and has previously been National Champion in many speed events and at the RLSS Lifesaving Nationals. He competed for the Southampton University A-team for 3 years, during which the time they won the National University League and won silver at the 2004 World inter-club champions SERC competition. He was the competition coach for Southampton University untill 2007, as well as acting as assistant coach to the GB junior and senior teams in 2004-2005. He has a BSc (hons) degree in sport studies and an MSc in Sports Performance. He currently provides sport science consultency support to the GB lifesaving Squad.

Blondie joined Southampton University Lifesaving Club (SULSC) as a fresher
in 2000. Over the next four years he successfully captained the A-team at
numerous University and RLSS competitions. Highlights of his competitive
lifesaving career include leading the SULSC team to victory at the 2003 RLSS
national incident competition, and winning a silver medal in the SERC at the
2004 world lifesaving championships in Viareggio. Since graduating, Blondie
has qualified as an RLSS Trainer-Assessor and Level 1 Judge. He was
appointed chairman of Keynsham Lifesaving Club in 2008, but still regularly
attends BULSCA events as a competitor, judge and coach
